Time

Giving thanks for time. Since last March we have had this gift of time, and time and time again I think of timely things to say. So today- I am thankful for Time. Because we need the time. We always want more time. And sometimes its time for it. Whatever it is. You know what I mean.

There’s a time to cry, like when the chiropractor crunches the middle section of what’s supposed to be your strong backbone. I know my brother and my father-in-law swear by their chiropractor adjustments, but maybe my crunchy joints just aren’t built for the type of full bear hugging, sweat inducing squeezes required to align my misaligned line of spine.

Time has also granted me the opportunity to see that if I slow down and take on things one at a time, I have more clarity than ever before. Like being still to hear the sound of something in the distance, we have an opportunity to open our senses to what’s out there. And that time is precious. Because if we pause and are still and find time to connect with our connections who give us the power to continue to be strong and pour positivity into the universe we will continue to grow. And be able to have the time to reach our potential.

There’s also a time to laugh, like when I gleefully greeted my neighbor across the street and turned a little too early into my driveway and walked straight into my bushes. I am thankful too that those are not rose bushes because my face would have been torn apart due to the fact that I was in a “way too happy to be Bill being Bill being friendly and moving faster than his eyes can take him” zone. God gave some of us peripheral vision. Instead of that, I got bruises and scrapes from walls and sometimes doors and many times desks and chairs and wastebaskets and screen doors and 10 year olds, and steel truck trailers.

I also clearly recall running full steam ahead into Mr. Lynch’s classroom to do the super assistant principal hero student removal thing and crashing into the science room’s eye washing station. That’s ironic right? Eye station that I didn’t see. So there was that time to be thankful for. I am sure that class wasn’t expecting my eyeballs to be popping out of my bald head as I looked across the room to the teacher who ironically enough was my doppelgänger…but that’s another story for another day.

So yes, time is what I am thankful for today. That and all the times I have had with my connections in education and family near and far. From Stillwell Circle to Providence to the Hudson Valley and New England. Time to say thanks guys. You made an impact. An impression. And I look forward to seeing the time we can connect again for more good times.

Yea. Sappy today. But it’s Thanksgiving. Give me a break. Or give me time. I will surely be more real after I use my time to toil in the kitchen tomorrow. Time to see how many hours I need to cook the 36 pound turkey for 5 people. Kidding Mom.

Thanks for Coming.
