“Does Canada have a 4th of July?”
“No silly, they skip it. No fourth. Right to the 5th. It’s like leap year…but not…”
Rather than fill the cyber-sphere with more bad dad joke driveling…Here is the Donadoni Academy July Newsletter:
Donadoni (Giver of Gifts) Academy is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of an epic year. Thanks to all members of the community for making your beds, doing your dishes, and brushing your teeth (67% of the time). Thanks for your continued cooperation with feeding the animals and walking the dog- or at least finding new and interesting ways to avoid all of the above.
We also want to highlight the amazing accomplishments of the past year. While I don’t typically spend a lot of time staring at the objects in the rear view mirror- even though they are closer than they appear I do think it is appropriate to stop and reflect on how awesome a year we had. We learned how to eat, drink, write, sleep, play the saxophone, play video games, share goldfish with cats, read books, sleep some more all in one room. All the while Wally chased the cats through the organized chaos. Kudos to all of us that did not gain 18 pounds while orchestrating said activities. That does not include the Principal. He has found that the fine looking Vineyard Vines shirts have apparently decided to get smaller. But I digress.
The students and faculty are eternally grateful to the OD’s. As in the Original Donadoni’s – Mr. and Mrs. Principal Donadoni’s parents…who opened their doors to the traveling Academy Circus for some much needed human connection family time. Thanks to all the people on the airplane that supported my multiple trips to the potty. It takes a village to get one person from a window seat to the lavatory at 30,000 feet. Lots of logistics involved. But the Academy was treated to a fine week of restorative justice, peace and quiet and family time. And when I get in touch with my roots,my foundation, I become centered once again to face the challenges presented by humans that don’t put their clothes away or do the dishes, or take out the trash, or chip a tooth on someone’s art project during chaos on the slanted hot pavement of Belmonte’s outdoor recess heaven. I will have to call someone to recall the details of that story…but whatever.
Returning from the land of hot thunderstorms, we were greeted nicely with homey hot thunderstorms. It was like we never left. Or did we? It just goes to show you that sometimes no matter how far you travel, you will feel at home as long as you have your family. And now that Wally is back from his stay at the Hotel for Dogs who don’t like Dogs all is well at the Academy. Keep smiling and have a scoop of ice cream for me. I don’t need it.
Thanks for Coming!

We enjoyed the chaos and once again realized how fortunate we are to have you all. I never would have dreamed this all 51 years ago.
