I don’t know if I ever followed up about the budget negotiations with the school committee. So now seems like a good time to fill you in. The school committee stated that all votes were unanimous. Just in case I wanted to dispute anything. Apparently there was not much consideration of what I wanted anyway. Powers above me believe that I should accept what I have. So, this budget presentation to the staff should be quick and you won’t have to read much longer. (For today, I mean I don’t want to lose viewers). Well, here goes…
There will be no additional cleaning or teaching staff added.
There will however, be cuts to the clerical staff and the nurse’s supplies (how many band-aids does the average house use in a week? less than 8,765,309 I hope??????). The dishwashing, and trash taking outing departments also were slashed. See, I told you it was bad. But, hey you have to adapt right?
And, I mean they don’t call me, “AdaptaBILL” for nothing. Surely, I can slog through a couple weeks without a full staff. As a principal I should know how to do everything anyway. Or at least be able to call someone who knows. Or hire them. Either way- I should not be concerned about these cuts to the Academy. We will accept the state of our affairs with a smile and a proud posture. Because budget woes could strike any school anywhere and we shouldn’t think we are immune to disaster.
Nope. We accept what we have. And we will find joy and peace in the process of digging deeper into our souls for the strength to take the next step forward. And pray to God that the step isn’t into steaming dog poo. Because, then we would cry. But not now. Too much to do and too many challenges to conquer. So, as the Academy races towards another amazing summer…remember to accept what you have, and watch where you are going. Which in this case is not quite clear. But, I do rest easy in the deep of my heart because I have faith the path leads somewhere. It has to. Right?
Thanks for Coming!
