With the summertime downtime family fun time in full swing and with a renewed sense of optimism and determination forged by gracefully walking though life’s hardest paths Wally and I are dog tired. Dog tired and ready to rest. That’s what we need.
When you recognize the gifts around you, and see how amazing they make your life then you can rally when the hammock is soaking wet. I did not know the hammock was wet. But, the water seeped quickly through my shorts and had the audacity to threaten my happiness on this brilliant weather day. I am an essentialist with common sense so I knew that the first need was a towel to absorb the moisture on my arse. But I was not going to let that little wet spot ruin my day.
I actually have bigger problems. But, I love when the wet spot on your bottom makes it uncomfortable to do what you dreamed of doing….because it gives you appreciation for what you are trying to attain… watching the Yankees beat the Red Sox on my iPad in my hammock on a perfect summer day. It didn’t go as I planned. Nothing does. Life lesson.
And as I watch the Yankees keep finding novel ways to lose…I can’t control that either. But, what I can control is my space. I can clean and clear and make room for the exciting gifts that come our way. I should make sure to check the hammock before I slide onto it, which is always good advice. Before I can relax, I must prepare and do what needs to be done for the betterment of the Academy. Which makes it essential that the Real Boss does what she does best. Which is take charge and do what needs to be done. That’s part of the beauty of facing puddles in your hammock. You have people that will help you towel off, shake the dirt off and show you where the sun will shine. Keep your eyes open for the people that will help you when you need it. And as the soaking wet underwear clings to my dirty butt, I know I will peel off the mess and continue to swing in my hammock of dreams until the next challenge comes up.
I hope the Real Boss doesn’t mind the extra laundry that might be required if I keep making a mess of my shorts, but I digress. I am sure that she will understand that I am doing my best. Thank goodness that teamwork makes the dream work so that the students can thrive while Wally and I do our best to keep our butts clean and dry. I should stop here. I can be too much.
Thanks for Coming!
