‘What Shall I Do…?”

The Donadoni Academy would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the people and flat tires and cab drivers who were a part of our seemingly endless, interminable journey home from Baltimore to Boston following a wildly successful weekend to honor the OG’s. That is… Mr. and Mr. Alexander Donadoni (just because they managed to make the matrimonial measurement of 51 years and produced a bumper crop of All-Stars. Including…most importantly, Me!

And when the Academy’s Board of Directors (aka my innermost thoughts) ruminate and discuss the future of the academy it gets even crazier than the $56 cab ride from Charlton to Worcester. Or the $159 from Worcester to home base. You can’t actually find an Uber in “Charlton, MA” at midnight on a Sunday. I mean you can’t even find Charlton on a Sunday night. Late. Very late. With tired family. Did I mention that I needed to be back for a new job on Monday?

I know what you are thinking right now. Hey…this story is convoluted and confusing…how about just the facts?

Academy attended fun family weekend shenanigans. Hurricane Henri canceled our plane ride home. Real Boss rented car for fam to drive home. Said car did not have a spare tire…a detail that proved costly. Wicked costly. Real Boss drove like a champion until a curb in the middle of nowhere decided to take the air out of our sails, hopes, dreams and sadly tires, 2 cranky kids, and 2 wonderfully patient and kind and loving parental units… In Charlton, MA. Just put the spare tire on and keep rolling. We looked everywhere and only found a spare tire around my midsection, but that wouldn’t work.

I stood on the curb and sang “What shall I do?” From the New Christy Minstrels Collection. BTW. Be sure to check out the Cat song too. Hilarity will ensue.

2 cab rides later. We made it home at 4 AM.

So why wouldn’t we wait a day for another flight? Wait for Hurricane Henri to move on out? BECAUSE WE HAD STUFF TO DO!

What stuff? Well, here is where all the new beginnings begin. The Academy is moving our team across the river, at the same time we are cleaning out Mim’s house and your Blog Star is starting a fabulous new job. There should be a rule about doing too many new things following a Pandemic. Or in the middle of a Pandemic. Or anytime really. Wherever we are. Whoever we are. Yet Here we are.

And that my friends is the truth. So- while I pack boxes, crawl in attics and sniff spiders, and begin to share my questionable wisdom with another school community, I will attempt to return to these pages. OH, and I almost forgot. Wally too says hi. He is adjusting to life without so much of me. We can save that for next month…

Thanks for Coming!
