Wally, as you know has been the mascot of the Academy. And a good thing for me. He is like my altar ego. Wait. No, that sounds too holy. How about alter my ego? YES- he does that too. He keeps me moving. More walking, less talking as people are fond of saying to me. Or less thinking and more doing. Yea, that too.
But when he thinks he is a BIG DOG, look out…anything can happen. So I try to ‘splain to Wally that when we go out on a walk that we must keep a low profile. We should not bring too much attention to ourselves. That way we can walk down the middle of the road, all the way to the water- anytime we want. And this is what he wants. And what Wally wants. Wally gets. Makes sense doesn’t it? So after careful planning with the school committee, and all of the important stakeholders in our Academy, it has been determined that Wally Will Have Pizza on Fridays.
He has earned that right. But he will need reminders to eat right. So Pizza can be a reward, and we will stay balanced with his diet on all the other days. Except for Sunday- that’s when we eat too much. Sometimes. If the Real Boss has made something special. Which she usually does.
I am trying to show growth you know. I am not as perfect as my ego tells me I am. So I need to keep that on a leash as well. Wally isn’t my alter/altar ego. He IS my ego. I take good care of it, but I have to be careful it doesn’t bite me. That’s when I think I am someone I am not. And I am just fine, being Bill. I think- let me check with the Real Boss and she can give you a real report card. Actually the Handsome Strong Teen and the Irish Princess usually help me too. Come to think of it, all of the Friends of the Academy get it too. Bill needs help. Mostly with his perspective and some with his newest disability.
That’s right. I have completed the transformation of my left side. (The evil side). While I am left-handed this has not been easy. But…after having my torn apart left shoulder repaired I can reflect on my new left knee, eye, and arm/shoulder. My pizza dream will be to be whole on the inside and outside at the same time. I will get there. With help, patience, prudence and proper perspective. And the best part…Wally will be with me for the rest of the journey.

I just love reading every time you write. ❤
Cute! But you don’t really feed pizza to a dog,do you?
No. He usually helps himself. Illegally.
