Wally looked up at me and stared with the distant, unfocused, look of an overly medicated dog after going to the vet and said, “Dude, who are YOU?”
And here is what I told him.
I am me. Just me. Humbly me. I can do whatever you want me to. I can be. I can do. I can even see. Sometimes. But not always. I do not know everything buddy, but I can see that you are tired. So, I suggest that you just lie there and rest. Lie or lay? Wait…let me ask a friend or see if Sister Joan can answer the phone upstairs and teach me grammar. Oh wait. We could always call gramma. Not tonight. Too late. Oh well. I guess the timing is off. For that plan anyway. Timing isn’t everything but it helps. And it’s nice when it’s perfect huh? But anyway…I am me. And I love you. Now do not let that go straight to your head Wally- because I happen to love everyone. And you know that. That is why I am so happy. All the time. It is the only way to be. Besides wouldn’t you be happy if you were me?
And then he gently climbed off my lap and melted into the couch. I guess it was too late to tell him the Celtics lost. But that is OK…there is always tomorrow!
Thanks for Coming!
