Here at the Donadoni Academy we have students who go above and beyond to achieve their dreams. That is good. Because you have to put forth extra effort and go the extra mile to get where you want to go. But one of our own…the Marvelous Maeve, truly has gone out of her shoes to be the best she can be.
She plays the tenor sax. She plays it well. And she can do that and march at the same time. This is truly amazing to me. I cannot walk and chew gum, heck…I struggle to just walk. But as a member of a marching band, she is a dedicated soul who gave her sole to the effort. Yes, you read that right. Not exactly the same as the Devil and Tom Walker (short story- look it up), but she created her own sole losing story on the streets of Boston.
Marching hither and yon, Maeve was able to literally, lose the sole of her marching shoe during the Veteran’s Day parade in Boston. Thankfully, there were mobile caregivers on the move with her to help her tie up her loose ends and somehow get the shoe to the end of the show. But I think a parade should be held for the Brave Maeve who shed her shoe, or lost her sole, but not her will to finish.
Not only does she play great music, but she perseveres. She is resilient, and knows how to find a way to solve a problem. And that is good, because living with the likes of me can present many an obstacle. When we travel, she is my shining light, my guide daughter and confidant. Her sense of humor, wit, and ability to assert her mind are valuable and unparalleled. While others lose patience, Maeve keeps her cool, finds a way, and steals your heart. And soul. And sole.
Thanks for Coming!
